Buckingham Old Gaol What's On Events for Summer 2010


BHT 25 BadgeBuckingham Old Gaol organises a range of events and lectures for all ages. Please check these pages regularly
during the year. Those organised directly by Buckingham Heritage Trust and the Friends of the Old Gaol Museum
help raise funds for the Old Gaol. September sees the start of Buckingham Heritage Trust's 25th anniversary events.

    Wednesday 25 August, 10.30am to 12.30pm
    Children's Activities: Craft
    Our craft table will be available, make whatever you like! Admission: Child - £1.50 if Friend/Trust member.
    £3 if not. One adult free with each child. No unaccompanied children please. Call in anytime between the hours shown.

    HOD BadgeSaturday 11 September 10am ­ 1pm
    Free Opening of Buckingham Old Gaol
    As part of the European Heritage Open Days, Buckingham Old Gaol and Museum will be open free until 1pm.
    Refreshments available. Gift shop and second hand bookstore open.

    Saturday 11 September - 10.30am
    Free Walk & Talk about Gilbert Scott
    HOD BadgeAs part of Heritage Open Days, a walk and talk by local historian Ed Grimsdale.
    Starting at Buckingham Old Gaol, one of Scott's first commissions, and taking in other sites connected with
    Buckingham's greatest architect including the Parish Church. Max of 20 people, starting and finishing at the
    Old Gaol Museum. Bookings in advance at the Tourist Information Centre.

    Thursday 16th September, 7.30pm
    Trust Talk: The Crown in Buckinghamshire Today
    BHT 25 BadgeA talk by Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, the Lord-Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire. Sir Henry will launch the programme
    of events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Buckingham Heritage Trust. After refreshments various treasures of the
    Buckingham Old Gaol Museum (previously unseen) will be available for guests to admire and enjoy, including 19th c.
    photograph albums of Buckingham. Tickets: £4 in advance from the Tourist Information Centre, £5 at the door.

    October 2010

    Thursday 14th October, 7.30pm
    Trust Talk: Treasure Your Past
    An illustrated talk by Ros Tyrrell, Finds Liaison Officer, Bucks County Museum. Bring your own treasures to Buckingham
    Old Gaol for identification by Ros and her team of metal detectorists (with kit!).
    Tickets: £4 in advance from the Tourist Information Centre, £5 at the door. Early booking advised.

    November 2010

    Wednesday 3rd November, 7.30pm
    Buckingham and the Quakers
    An illustrated talk by Ed Grimsdale, well known local historian.
    Tickets: £4 in advance from the Tourist Information Centre, £5 at the door. Early booking advised.
