Walter A Slaymaker Letterhead

Walter Slaymaker operated from Old Straford Wharf as Coal Merchant, Carter, & Contractor. Written on invoice sheets, the heading also informs us that they have Horses, Traps & Wagonettes for hire and that his terms are quarterly, with 5 per cent charged on overdue accounts, a practice that died out in the 1960's but returned in the 1990's as cash flow became a problem.

Sir

I beg to inform you that the swing bridge over canal known as Hollands Bridge is broken in two halves and is dangerous to either foot or cart traffic. it is the second bridge between Old Stratford and Deanshanger.
