Correspondence to the Grand Junction Canal Company.

We have included letters to Mr Milner of the Grand Junction Canal company at Blisworth, from firms that were based along the canal from Cosgrove to Buckingham. They are copies of letters from our archives showing the problems of the day, for instance lack of water in the cut, weed problems and leakages.

The inclusion of Post Office, Station and Telegraphic address shows how much they would have relied on public transport and communication during these years, in fact some of the replies appear to be turned around within 48hrs.

I particularly liked the Telegram address of the Grand Junction Canal Office in London as 'Waterways London' and the phone number 'Gerrard 1899' which I am sure would have some significance.

Paragraphs have been copied to include punctuation and spelling mistakes as written.
