Memo to Mr T.W.Milner. Blisworth.
BUCKINGHAM ARM. DRAW BRIDGE No.29.
The Company having assumed jurisdiction over the top end of the Buckingham Arm, the liability of maintaining the above bridge would devolve upon them. As you consider the bridge to be unsafe in its present condition, arrange to carry out what repairs are necessary to put same in good state of repair.
STEAM DREDGER
I do not think it would be possible to continue working the steam dredger at Braunston during your stoppage at Easter, as the men engaged thereon will be of great service to you in the several works which you contemplate taking in hand during that stoppage.
You should find no difficulty in passing the mud boats up and down the Braunston Locks whilst the traffic is working, as, at the outside, there would not be more than seven boats per day.
I thank you for the photographs of the discharging plant, which are most artistic. but I prefer them printed not as postcards but for book mounting.
Edward Thomas.
Engineer.
P.S.
I had the opportunity of seeing Ford yesterday, and he reports that the discharging plant burns something like 15cwt. of coal per day, due to defective rings and other repairs required to the plant. Certainly this plant should not burn more than 5cwt.,of coal, so it would point to some serious defect.
