Notes:
  • Bridge numbers 1, 2 and 3 were on the Old Stratford Arm, numbers 1 to 28 were on the
    Buckingham Arm
  • The towpath followed the South side of the canal throughout, crossing the junction at Old Stratford on a timber swingbridge
    (bridge number 3)
  • Bridge number 2 Buckingham Arm, carried Watling Street (A5) over the canal and was known as Old Stratford Tunnel
    because it was unusually long and had no towpath under it, the horses had to cross the road above.
