Title: 'Cowper and his Hares' Height 40 cm, width 30cm Walter West (1860-1933) was a painter, printmaker and illustrator. He had trained under Edwin Moore and then at St John's Wood Art School, followed by the Royal Academy Schools from 1884-7. His early subject matter was mostly animals, which would have attracted him to the subject of Cowper and his hares. After 1910 he turned towards landscape painting. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1885 and was a member of the Royal Watercolour Society, 1904. |
