The museum is delighted to announce that it has just beenÊawarded Full Accreditation by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council.

    Alice in Wonderland Week


    Calling all Cheshire Cats! The Cowper and Newton Museum hosts a week of childrens' activities with an Alice in Wonderland theme from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th of August. There will be free story readings and free craft activities, plus an 'Alice' trail (£1 entry, includes a prize!), face painting and a Mad HatterÕs Tea Party. Normal admission prices apply, but entry is free to those in costume!

    Bring a picnic or purchase one at the museum on the day.

    A FREE entry weekend to help us celebrate our Victory Garden Harvest. Complete with land girls, Harvest Service of Thanksgiving, activities and scenarios.

    Quiz and Fish 'n' Chip Supper
    at The Olney Centre.

  • Friday 1 October
    Concert by Living Archive Band
    8.00 pm at The Olney Centre.

  • Wednesday 27 October
    Children's Fun Day
    From crafts to face painting, fun activities for every age.

  • Saturday 13 November
    Archaeology Day
    Find out about the excavations carried out in and around Olney and handle some of the finds. See if you can guess what they are - with talks and an expert on hand.

  • Saturday 27 Nov - Saturday 18 December
    Dickens Trail
    Find the characters around the museum from Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol. Dare you look for the Ghost of Christmas yet to come? (£1.50 per trail with prize.) Free Christmas crafts for children.

  • Sunday 12 December
    Olney TownÕs Dickens of a Christmas: we join in with the dozens of stalls from 10am.

Our family Season Ticket admits you to all events (except where shown). Valid for one year from date of purchase, it is available from the Museum Shop at £26 - and since a one-day Family Ticket costs £7, you start saving on your fourth visit!


Friends of the Museum

  • The Friends are hoping to arrange "An Evening with Terry Lightfoot and Friends" later in the year so please watch this space for further details.
