Theft at Castlethorpe

Eric Reginald Parker, (18), farm labourer, 16, North-street, New Bradwell, was summoned for stealing between 25th. September and 6th October, at Castlethorpe, a raincoat value 10s., the property of his employer, William Hidderley, Lower Lodge Farm. Prosecutor deposed that he left the raincoat on the seat of a tractor which he kept in the cart shed, and thought no more about it. He could give no definite date, but missed it on October 4th. P.C. Barnett stated that defendant, after being cautioned, admitted the theft. Defendant pleaded guilty. Superintendent Callaway informed the Bench that defendant’s period of probation for previous offences had not expired. He applied for a remand with a view to his being sent to Quarter Sessions for Borstal treatment. Defendant was accordingly remanded in custody for a fortnight.
