Village Fare at Castlethorpe

Castlethorpe village hall committee recently held an Olde English Fayre as a change from the usual annual fete, and it proved very successful. Favoured with good weather, many of the helpers were in old English costume.
Takings were £90 on the day including donations from Mrs. W. Markham, Mrs. J. Sawbridge, Mr. and Mrs. Long and Mrs. Sills.
During the afternoon a display was given by the “Bedford Men” Morris Dancers, of Bedford.
Stalls were held outside the village hall and teas were served inside the hall.
Fancy dress winners were: Julian and Mark Edmunds (juniors), Greek boys; Mrs. J. Markham (ladies), Henry VIII; Miss R. Cooper (girls) Sir Walter Raleigh.
A successful sports evening in connection with the Fayre was held in the Cricket Field by kind permission of Mr. J. Sawbridge.
