When a local dignitary opens a village fete, he usually follows the ceremony with a tour around the stalls.

Coun. Arthur Snaith, chairman of Newport Pagnell rural district council, did this on Saturday, after opening Castlethorpe’s fete and ended up by winning a pig at the bowling sideshow!
The fete in aid of the village’s Evergreen Club was held at Castlethorpe Lodge by kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. A. Stacey. Takings came to £177.
Proceedings started with the crowning of the “Teen Queen”, Diane Hill by the former Miss Castlethorpe, Susan Keeves.
The royal float carrying the queen and her attendants Kim Wesley, Valerie King, Karen Pearson and Mellisa King and page boy Darren Harris, was then paraded around the village, finishing at the Lodge doe the fete opening.
The fancy dress was judged by Mr. and Mrs. Earthy and Mr. and Ms. Noble of London.
