Ale-Houses Keepers
The Carrington Arms formerly the Peahen Inn
The site of the King's Arms which had also been the village bakery.
Joseph Smith was living here with his family at the time
of the fire in 1905.
It probably stopped being an ale-house when Robert Varney
took over the Carrington Arms some time in the late 1870s.

UPON CONDITION that whereas Benjamin Churchill is this Day Licenced to keep a Common Ale-House or Victualling-House at the Sign of Kings Arms in the Parish of Castlethorpe in this County, for the Term of One Year only, from the Twenty-ninth Day of September Instant,
If therefore the said Ben: Churchill shall keep good Order and Government, and suffer no Disorder to be committed, or unlawful Games used in the said
House, Yard, Garden or Backside thereunto belonging, during the Continuance of the said Licence, THEN this Recognizance to be void, or else to remain in full Force
