‘Thrup’s unbeaten run reaches seventh week

Castlethorpe’s in form cricketers extended their unbeaten run to seven matches following a fine 37 run victory over Drayton Parslow on Sunday. However, it was not all joy for Thrup. They lost their first four wickets for a mere 13 runs and relied upon a brisk 47 from Eddy Boss to dig them out of trouble. Boss featured in stands of 20 with Spinnelli, and 36 with Ted Pearson. His innings delighted spectators with 40 coming in boundaries. Any hopes Drayton had of overhauling the home team’s total were dispelled by skipper Buddy Hill. In a hostile bowling spell he snapped up eight wickets at a cost of only 15 runs. The highlight of this spell came after tea when he claimed four wickets in five balls. Drayton were skittled out for 38, and 30 of those came from Tim Walduck. This was a fine victory for ‘Thrup and a lot of the credit of this successful season must go to Hill, favourite for the club’s single wicket contest on Sunday.
