CASTLETHORPE’S SMALL SCORE
In a home game on Saturday Castlethorpe batsmen failed badly against Ashton and could only muster 24 runs, six batsmen failing to score. Ashton replied with 63, mainly due to the stubborn batting of the “tail-end” players. G. Bailey took seven Castlethorpe wickets for 13 runs and B. Garratt five Ashton wickets for 23. Each side batted again for 12 overs and in that period Ashton were dismissed for 31. R. Rock taking seven wickets for 6 runs, and Castlethorpe, in reply, fared much better than they did in their first innings, running up a score of 39 for two. B. Garratt making 26.
