Senior Citizens Xmas Party
Leading up to the 5th Annual Xmas Party organised by the Pack, 68 people had been invited by Leaders escorting a few of the Cub Scouts to personally present the invitations to our friends in Hanslope and Castlethorpe.
The Group Scout Council had once again funded the Party and arranged the transport and refreshments.
The Pack received their guests for 7.15pm. whilst Mr. Hill provided music. Owing to a flu virus around the country some of our guests unfortunately could not make the Party.
The Party opened with 3 games of Beetle which caused a lot of laughter amongst the players as they strived to win the Meat Vouchers. During the activity Stuart Goodman had wandered around the tables to give judgement on the best drawn beetle and Mr. Sawbridge duly received his prize.
Refreshments were served by the Cub Scouts and Leaders, during this interval a raffle ticket was given to each guest. The draw made and the three lucky winners presented with their prizes we made ready for the next part of the evenings entertainment.
‘The School Room’ was then performed by 9 Cub Scouts which produced many laughs and the audience responded to the excellent performance. Our thanks go to Mrs. Mitchell who had spent many hours rehearsing our future stars of the stage. Five Scouts then performed two Camp Fire Stunts, pity they could not get more volunteers from the Troop as Akela, Bagheera and Baloo found themselves acting the fool in the first Stunt.
Our guests having enjoyed the entertainment from the Pack and Troop then sat back to participate in carol singing, led by the choir of Cub Scouts, Scouts and Leaders accompanied by Mr. Hill’s organ playing.
After Akela thanked all concerned for the evening and Mr. Sawbridge responded for the guests, sherry and a hot mince pie brought a wonderful evening to a close. However the guests were not allowed to leave until Father Christmas, all the way from Castlethorpe, had made a surprise entrance and distributed bars of chocolate.
