Sunday Morning Ramble
River Ouse / Grand Union Canal
Met at 9.0 a.m. Headquarters
We were transported by Parent’s cars to the Haversham Picnic Site where we commenced our ramble. We followed the walk along the River Ouse to the Grand Union Canal. Jason volunteered to walk through the tunnel to ensure safe passage for the rest of the party. After briefly stopping for refreshments we continued the ramble to the Mill and onwards for a short look at the Wildlife Sanctuary. We returned to the Mill where large fish were sighted but not identified and looked into the Mill where the waterwheel would have been positioned. The ramble continued along the river and through a wheat field where Akela seemed to soak most of the previous night rain on his trousers, but this ensured that the rest of the party remained quite dry. Reaching the Buckingham Arm Canal we walked along its old bank to Cosgrove Locks.
We ended our ramble at the Barley Mow Public House Garden where the cubs refreshed themselves on Coca-Cola and the Leaders on ‘Brown Pop’. After the cubs had played a fun game of cricket organized by Bagheera and Myles we all returned to Hanslope with help of parent’s cars at approx 1.15 p.m.
We had all enjoyed an interesting ramble in good weather amongst our friends in the Pack.
