Visit to Loughton Valley Park
|
1st Hanslope Cub Scouts at Loughton Valley Park
|
Met at 9.15 a.m. Headquarters
After arriving at Loughton Valley Park we walked through the Park which was covered in ice and snow. We climbed a small hill to view the Park from a higher vantage point, where the four lakes could easily be seen. Having walked to the northern entrance to the Park, Baloo explained the system to prevent the valley becoming a flood hazard to the adjacent A5 road and railway.
We then proceeded to walk over a footbridge to the Central Milton Keynes Railway Station. The Pack was allowed access to the platform by a considerate Ticket Collector and we were able to see a train arrive and depart. After leaving the Station we walked past the Bus Station and returned to the Park. Having returned to the entrance we then organized a game of football in the snow. A hectic game ensued being controlled by an inconsistent referee named Baloo, but despite Bagheera changing sides to try and make the final score more even, White/Green Sixes came out worthy winners.
After an enjoyable and interesting morning ramble in the snow we returned to the Headquarters at 12.45 p.m.
