Senior Citizens Xmas Party

Season's greetings and best wishes for the New Year to you all.
From Mr & Mrs. Jubb
Thanking you for our most enjoyable evening last Friday.

During the proceeding weeks 60 people had been invited, including all of our last year’s guests, by Leaders escorting the cub scouts to personally invite our friends.

The Scout Group Council kindly took on the task of organizing cars to and from the Party and preparing refreshments.

The Pack received their guests for 7.30p.m., taking their coats and escorting them to their seats. Mr. Hill from Castlethorpe provided the music whilst the Cub Scouts chatted to the guests.

Three games of Bingo then ensued with the now famous Caller from Castlethorpe again in top form. The second game produced a problem with two winners of the full house, however Mr. Hill soon gave Akela the answer to the problem and all was well.

During the serving of refreshments by the pack, each guest received a raffle ticket to find 4 lucky winners. After the refreshments the Pack treated the party to a Camp Fire where songs and yells were performed to the delighted guests. Akela included an extra song ‘The Blue Jay’ which is one of the Pack’s favourites but only because the artists seemed to require extra make up time and the guests seemed to be in good health.

‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ was then performed by 10 Cub Scouts which proved a great success. It was good to see the efforts of Suzanne, Claudine and Laura all rewarded for their efforts in managing to transform the Cub Scouts into a theatrical group during the proceeding weeks.
The Pack then formed into a choir whilst Akela invited the whole ensemble to sing 5 carols accompanied by Mr. Hill electric organ. The carols ended a very successful evening both for our guests and Cub Scouts.

Akela thanked all concerned and invited our guests to partake of sherry and mince pies before making their way homeward.

All the efforts seemed worthwhile in producing such a venture where the whole gathering seemed to get such enjoyment from the evening.
