Final

We arrived at Stanton Middle School to play 1st Olney in the District Final of the Cub Scout Quiz. This was the first time the Pack had reached the Final since Baloo and Akela had been Leaders in 1st Hanslope Pack and so we were all proud of the achievement.

1st Olney had brought along their whole Pack as well as parents and with the host pack, Stantonbury, being present the hall was quite full. The first two rounds were very close but the next three rounds saw 1st Olney forge ahead into a commanding lead. The team made a last effort in the last round to close the gap but despite high scoring found themselves losing the Final by 22½ points to 20.

The Quiz Shield was presented to 1st Olney by the A.D.C.S.

Both teams must be congratulated on their performance in the Final which turned out to be a struggle for both teams having to contend with a large audience, some difficult questions and Question Master who found the job difficult and got in more muddles than the Cub Scouts.

We wished 1st Olney the best of luck in the Regional Rounds and to bring the County Trophy back to Milton Keynes North District.

The team returned home, disappointed but consoling themselves that they had ‘done their best’ and that you can learn as much from losing as winning.
