Milton Keynes North District Cub Scout Sports

At Stanton Middle School Playing Field at 12.30p.m.

This years Sports were hosted by the Stantonwood Scouts Group who had arranged a Fete before and after the Competition. The District wanted it to be a family day and we had to book the Sports team in by 12.00 noon.

We left the Headquarters at 11.30a.m. to travel to Stanton Middle School on a very hot summers day. The Cub Scouts were well prepared to do their best, although because of a few lads not turning up on the day, we had to rearrange some of competitors from our previously arranged team plan.

The team performed to an excellent level of athletic ability against the other six Packs who entered the Sports. Points were gained in every heat and the points were further increased in the highly competitive finals. Our star Potato Race competitor Edwin Cox gained maximum points in both his races despite traveling from Huddersfield shortly before his heat started. The whole team were encouraged by the enthusiastic parents cheering the lads on during the afternoon and Mr. Parkes was inspired to win the Dad’s Sprint in fine style.

When final points had been calculated the District Commissioner Mr. Don Scott presented the individual certificates to all the successful Cub Scouts in the Finals. He then announced that Stantonwood had come third and 5th Newport Pagnell second but 1st Hanslope were again the winners of the Sports for the seventh year running.

The team, Leaders and families were delighted in the achievement and we all returned home in a joyous mood.
