Sponsored Walk for Headquarters Building Fund

This year the route had been changed so that the walk used some of the many rights of ways within the Hanslope Parish. The Cub Scouts escorted by Leaders and Parents started out on a misty morning at 9.a.m. The ground underfoot was wet and muddy in many places owing to heavy rain on the previous day.

Trouble with 2 dogs on the Bridleway at Bullington End was soon resolved by sending the well known Dog controller named Baloo aided by two dads in front of the party until unhindered progress could be made.

We came across many horses using the Swan Way long distance Bridleway at Tathall End as it was the official opening of the route from Salcey Forest to Goring on Thames. The sun made an appearance during the morning making most of the party discard unwanted outer garments at the refreshment point at Stocking Green.

Nearing Long Street plans were drawn up to include another refreshment stop before finishing the walk. Mrs. Monk took up jogging to organise drinks in the Globe garden. Suitably refreshed we reached the Headquarters to receive the certificates to verify the walk had been completed and to consume hot dogs and soup.
