Milton Keynes North District Cub Scout Cross Country Emberton Park

Cross Country Course at Emberton
Cross Country Course at Emberton Park
The District had organised a Cross Country Competition for the first time for a considerable number of years.

We arrived at Emberton Park at 9.30 a.m. after assembling at the Headquarters. The morning’s weather was misty with slight drizzle but the teams appeared to be eager for the 10 a.m. start for the race around the lakes. Six teams had entered and each team consisted of 8 runners and the team placings would be sorted out by scoring the first 6 runners from the team.

Parents accompanying our team placed themselves around the course to give vocal encouragement to our spirited team. The runners were led around the wet course by a ‘Hare’ however Brendan overtook the Hare near the finishing posts to achieve first place. Our other team members gave a good account of themselves and after the scores were added up the A.D.C. Paul Swannell announced that Neath Hill A Team had won with 65 points followed by Hanslope with 81 points.

Our team gave a very good account of themselves in a very well organised event where all the competitors and spectators seemed to enjoy the very competitive Cross Country Race.
