FOOTBALL. A match between Castlethorpe and Deanshanger was played at Castlethorpe on Saturday last, and was well contested throughout. A goal was quickly obtained for Castlethorpe from a splendid drop kick made by A. Clarke. A try was afterwards added to this by the same team. On changing sides the visitors gained two tries, leaving Castlethorpe the winners by a goal, a try, and a rouge, to two tries. The Castlethorpe team was composed of W. Cowley, R. Brown, H. Hurst, - Telfer, J. Wise, C. Wigglesworth, F. Hilton, and G. Hilton, forwards; W. Gregory and W. Worker, half-backs; A. Compton and L. Wigglesworth, three-quarter backs; and A. Clarke, back.
Note: Although billed as a football match, it may have been a rugby match.
