Wolverton And Castlethorpe

Mothers Gain Awards

MAY BE HEARD ON WIRELESS TO-DAY

On the B.B.C. Light Programme to-day (Friday), in the Women’s Hour between 2.30 p.m. and 2.45 p.m. Wolverton and Castlethorpe mothers may hear their own voices answering questions in a Buckinghamshire County Welfare Quiz that was recorded in Hazells’ Hall, Aylesbury, on Wednesday of this week. Mrs. E.G. Kitchin, Wolverton, wife of Pastor Kitchin, and Mrs. J. Cooper, Castlethorpe, wife of Johnny Cooper, former Wolverton Town football captain, had qualified for the final session of the Quiz arranged by the Bucks County Council Welfare Department for members of the various Welfare Centres in the County.

Of the ten final competitors only 3½ marks separated them, which indicates the keen competition. Mrs. Cooper tied for second place with Mrs. Johnson, of Great Kingshall (16 marks), and Mrs. Kitchin was only half-a-mark behind to occupy third position.

The Quiz was extremely well organised. “The B.B.C. recording vans gave added interest and enthusiasm,” said Mrs. Kitchin.

Miss Lane of Newport Pagnell, County Welfare Organizer, made the arrangements for the North Bucks Welfare Centres, and had held discussion groups in order to school those who went forward to the final.
