Richard Marriott 1710

In the Name of God Amen I Richard Marriott of the Parish of Castell Thrupp in the County of Bucks Laceman being in good health of Body and sound and perfect disposing mind and memory praise be therefor given unto Almighty God and I being mindfull of human mortality do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say ffirst and principally I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping through the Meritts Death and passion of my only Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to receive full and fare pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting Life And my Body I commit to the Earth where it was made to be decently and christainly buried without needless or superfluous Expence at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named Imprimis I will and order all my just Debts by me truly owing at the time of my Decease shall be with my ffuneral expences justly paid and satisfyed out of my personall Estate as soon as may be Item as for my ffreehold house which in my Lifetime I purchased out of Parrotts ffarme from Benjamin Wincles at Castell Thurpp aforesaid which I hold to me and my heirs and assigns for Ever I do hereby give devise and bequeath the same with the homestall and all other the Appurtenances thereunto any way belonging or appertaining unto my loving Wife Mary Marriott if in case she shall happen to survive and over Live me To hold unto her for and during the term of her naturall Life only and no longer that she may have a habitation of her owne to Live in without the help or leave of her Children but in Love with them Item I give unto my Eldest Son Richard Marriott of the County of Northampton also Laceman one shilling only and no more I having done as much for him in my Life as I can do for any other of my Children at my Death Item I give unto my Daughter Mary Miles and unto my two Sons William and Thomas Marriott unto each and every of them respectively one shilling a peece and no more I having done as much for them severally and respectively in my Lifetime as I can do for any other of my Children at my Decease Item I give and hereby bequeath unto my two Sons Henry and James Marriott and unto my Daughter Anne Palmer Wife of Richard Palmer and unto each and every of them severally and respectively Twenty pounds sterling apeece in all Threescore pounds for and towards setting them up in their severall honest Trades and handy labour which by and through Gods good providence they have been Educated in well hoping they and every of them will mind my order and command which is that they will take care and endeavour to preserve that little to keep and preserve themselves and poor families as I have done before them And further my Mind and will is and I do hereby so order and direct that the said Legacy of Twenty pounds by me given unto my Daughter Anne Palmer shall be only paid unto her own hand and to none other that she may have and receive herself separate from her Husband Richard Palmer and use the same to and for hers and her Children good only as my Executors Overseers and Trustees shall see most for their good and reall benefitt and together with the Interest of the said Twenty pounds in case any lawfull Interest shall be made thereof Item my Will and mind is that after mine and my Wifes Decease and after the decease of the survivor of us that my said ffreehold House with the Appurtenances in Castell Thurpp shall be sold or disposed of to the best purchaser that can or may be found to buy the same for ready Money and the Money arising by the sale thereof I further give devise and dispose thereof in manner as hereinafter ordered Item therefore I do hereby give devise and bequeath my said ffreehold House with the appurtenances in Castell Thrupp after mine and my said Wife Marys Decease and after the Decease of the survivor of us unto my loving Brother William Church of Spittle ffields Citizen and Goldsmith of London my Son Richard Marriott and my Son in Law Richard Miles to have and to hold the said ffreehold house and premises with the appurtenances unto my said Brother William Church and my Sons Richard Marriott and Richard Miles from and immediately after our Decease and the Decease of the survivor of us unto them and their heirs and Assigns for Ever upon this speciall Trust and Confidence nevertheless and to the intent and purposes following only and no otherwise (that is to say) that they and their Heirs and Assigns and the Heirs and Assigns of the survivor of them shall and lawfully may as soone after our Decease and the Decease of the survivor of us as they shall or can to the best of their understanding and judgements in convenient and needful time sell dispose grant and convey of the said ffreehold premises with the appurtenances unto the best purchaser and their Heirs and Assigns for Ever And after such sale and grant as soon as may conveniently be done divide dispose give and pay all the ready Money arising by such sale over and above reasonable and just charges in the same to be first deducted unto and amongst all and every my Grandchildren as well Sons and Daughters which shall happen to be borne and living at the time of such sale to be made as aforesaid equally in true proportions share and share alike and no more or less to one then to another at such times and in such proportions and manner as my Executors Trustees and Overseers shall to the best of their judgement see fitt and most proper for their good benefits and advantages which I intreat and hope they will do so as may be pleasing to God and for their owne peace of conscience or mind when they shall lye on their Death beds Item I hereby make ordain nominate and appoint my said loving Wife Mary Marriott and my Son William Marriott joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament and my hearty desire and request to them is that they will agree in Love and friendship together as long as they Live and faithfully to their utmost powers perform all my Trust in them joyntly reposed for the generall good of all my family and indveavour to make keep and preserve peace and unity amongst all my Children as near as may be Item I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of all my personall Estate howsoever or whatsoever unto my said loving Wife Mary Marriott for and during the Term of her naturall Life And from and after her Decease I hereby give devise and bequeath the same to be equally divided without strife to and amongst all my said Grandchildren in manner as abovesaid Item I do hereby revoke disanull and make void all former and other Wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made And make and ordain this to be my only last Will and Testament and none other or otherwise In Witness whereof I the said Richard Marriott the Elder unto this my last Will and Testament being written or continued in two sheets of paper have sett my hand and seal to the Top of the ffirst sheet my hand to the bottom of the ffirst and my hand and seal to the bottom of the second or last sheet this Eighteenth day of ffebruary Anno Dmi Onethousand Seven Hundred and Nine Richard
