Deanshanger Book

Planned and executed by our Millenium Book sub committee, under the judicious authority of Elisabeth, the team leader, " Images of a Village " draws on the resources of more than sixty individuals within the village of Deanshanger.
Grant aided by the Millenium Lottery Fund and South Northants District Council, the book tells the story of life in the village during the past 2000 years, incorporating the earliest recorded map of the village circa 1600, to a modern-day aerial photograph. It follows the rise and fall of the Buckingham Grand Junction Canal through the village and the effects of the industrial revolution on the village "smithy" which grew to become E & H Roberts "Brittania Ironworks", evidence of which can be found throughout the countries of the old British Empire and beyond, a signifiacnt contributer to village prosperity in the 19th and 20th century.
Photographs and Graphics make this a truly reflective picture of rural life.
