My 3xggrandmother married William Pratt in Southam, Warwick on 9 Nov 1830. On every Census from 1841 on she indicated that she was born in Hanslope c1802 but I have never been able to locate it, until now. If this is correct, her parents were Matthew Adams and Susannah Whiting. They were married in 1807, both having been married previously. He was married to Phoebe Crick who died in 1798. It appears that Matthew and Susannah were having children whilst Phoebe was still living, unless there was another couple with the name Matthew and Susannah? I have found at least 10 children from 1797. Would like to make contact with anyone researching this family.

I have now been able to find out more about this family.

Matthew Adams married Susanna Carvil (c1768) in Hartwell, Northants on 1 Jan 1790. Their children were: John ch.1795, Thomas ch.1797, William ch.1799, Elizabeth ch.1802, George ch.1804, Susannah ch.1807 and all were born in Hanslope. I believe Susanna died in 1869 aged 99 years and have sent for her Death Certificate. This is definitely my line.

Matthew Adams married Phebe Crick (c1757) in Hanslope on 27 Sep 1787. Phebe died 15 Dec 1798 and their children were: Thomas ch.1792 d.1792, Matthew ch.1793 d.1872, Kitty ch.1794 and all were born in Hanslope.

Matthew Adams (w) married Susannah Whiting (w) in Hanslope on 27 Jul 1807. Their children were: Kitty ch.1809, Thomas ch.1816 and Susannah ch.1811 and all were born in Hanslope.

The children's names between the three couples have unfortunately been repeated which just adds to the confusion.

I haven't as yet worked out which Matthew Adams I should be researching as one was born in 1756 and the other 1757!!

Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Do you know any more about George Adams? I have a George Adams, father of Eleanor, born abt 1849 in Hartwell, but Elenor married Abraham Robbins in Hanslope in Jan 1872, and witnesses were Mary Woodland and Thomas Warren. That family then had children in Hartwell.
