When we were children living in Hanslope in the 1980s, myself and my best friend were always intrigued by this small, flat gravestone in memory of Sarah and Faith Powell, who died in 1966. Sarah was 6 months old when she died, and Faith was just 3 days.

We felt sad that the grave seemed abandoned, and used to clear the overgrown grass from the sides of it, and leave daisy chains around it.

Does anyone know who these two children were, and why they died so tragically young? As it was only 1966, I'm sure some villagers must remember something.

I can remember the twins diedin in 1966, I was at secondary modern school, so I would have been about 12/13.

Sarah & Faith Powell are the twin daughters of Tom Powell & Ann Wicks, they lived in Deanshanger, they were members of the Gospel Hall in Gold Street. The twins were buried next to the grandparents, also I believe that the twins were born early.
