Hi

James Bennett Cook married Winifred Chapman at St James The Great in Hanslope in 1919. They had three children between 1922 and 1924. James died in the village in 1956. I am hoping to find out what happened to Winifred. Can anyone help me please?

Also I would love to know if anyone was at school with any of their children.

Thank you.

Dear Monica,

I am writing on behalf of Gerald Ditum (I'm his next door neighbour and he can't log on to the site properly at present due to technical issues) but his message is...

the Hanslope Historic society has an audio tape made by Mrs Cook just before she died. If you would like to access it just get in touch with Gerald.

Gerald email address is : geraldditum@hotmail.co.uk

Can you contact Gerald if you want to communicate on this.

Regards
F Canning

Hi

Thought you might be interested, James Bennett Cook features in my family tree as my 4th Cousin/3 times removed.

Hi Monica

I have William, Kathleen and Dorothy listed as James Bennett Cook's Children and according to my computer programme (Family Tree Maker) they would be my 5th Cousins/Twice removed! I have not been able to track any further information about them.

I have tracked James Bennett back - and my tree shows he was the son of Eli and Sarah (nee Webb) Cook. Eli was the son of James and Elizabeth (Mills) Cook - one of 10 children. James was the son of William and Sarah (nee Lane) Cook. William appears to be the son of Joseph Cook and Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) - and this appears to have been his second wife. Joseph was the son of John Cook and Ann Green (married in 1769) who are my direct 6th Great Grandparents.

I have over 700 names on my family tree and it is very interesting to see the connections.

Hopefully, that all makes sense.

What is your particular interest?

Tony

Hi Tony

Thank you for the message.

My interest is in Kathleen, and to a lesser extent William and Dorothy.

Other than the family tree which sounds fascinating, 700 names is quite something, have you carried out any further research on your fifth cousins twice removed?

Do you know if you are descended from Dorothy or William? I do not think Kathleen had any children.

I am researching my second book and Kathleen's name has appeared.

Best Wishes

Monica

Hi Monica

I am not descended from either William or Dorothy. My branch of the Cook's is quite a different one and quite distant (but as mentioned I can track well back and see those lines). I have not really researched any of the individuals in my tree, I guess at this stage I was looking at how far I could get back, and many of the names have come through tracking lines of marriage via the Hanslope web site which I think is so useful. I have stalled at the moment as I am trying to link back to Hartwell (which is Northants) and am struggling on records around 1700.

I am interested to learn of your research for your book - what exactly are you including? If William and Dorothy had any children I would love to know as it will add to the tree.

If you would be interested in seeing the Cook family tree (and all its 700 names) I would gladly share it with you - not quite sure how. It prints as a PDF file and now stands at 90 sheets of A4 which I sellotape together!

I am planning to visit the BBC "Who do you think you are Live" show at Olympia at the end of Feb (to seek guidance on how to get back further), and take the tree with me - I have booked an Ask the Expert session. It will be interesting to see what they think.

Regards

Tony

As far as I know Winifred Cook passed away in Hanslope in the 1980s. Can anyone give me a more specific date please?
