Hi
Is anyone else researching (or related to ) the 'RAINBOW' family of Hanslope.
UPDATED info in BLUE - 26 nov 2010
Thomas & Ruth RAINBOW (Carter) marr 26 Dec 1822
Surviving Children =
George (? m Elizabeth KEEN - not sure abt this yet?) pretty sure this is correct
James (? m ????? ) m Elizabeth GARNER - (cant find any chn??)
Mary Ann (Ann ?) m George DENTON (sometimes spelt DEATON)
Maria Barberry (Barbara ?) (? m ????) m George PICKERING - 5 chn
Frederick William (? m ????) m Caroline COOPER - 5 chn
William m Jessie GUBB - My Line
Betsy Maria m Andrew NICHOLS
Leahannah (Lehanna ?) m William Richard HARRIS

Would love to hear from any one connected to this family as I would love to look back further into Thomas/Ruth's families and fill in many missing gaps I have with his children and their families.

Many thanks

A friend has found a mention of a Jas. RAINBOW, Hawker, of Hanslope, Bucks in the Oxford Chronicle in 1856 - he was apprehended in an Inn in Banbury and found guilty of stealing 2 rabbits and got 3 months hard labour.

This is the first time I've seen a Hanslope RAINBOWs with any connection to hawking or travelling, although I am very familiar with John RAINBOW of Yardley Hastings who is found "in a van" on the 1841 census, and would be keen to know if anyone knows any more about this Jas. RAINBOW or any further connections to hawking or travelling.

Hi
The James mentioned in my earlier post could possibly be the Jas. RAINBOW you mention.

In the 1861 census in Hanslope, Thomas & Ruth RAINBOW have a daughter in law 'Elizabeth RAINBOW' living with them (26), she is listed as 'Hawkers wife'.
I have often wondered if she may be the wife of James but havent found a marriage to prove it yet.

I would love to know if you find out any more.

Jo

This is rather an old thread but I thought I would throw in our Rainbow's!

My husband's ancestor was Israel OLNEY. One of his children, Hannah OLNEY (b abt 1830 in Hanslope) married a William RAINBOW, the son of a Daniel RAINBOW 5 October 1856 in Hanslope.

I am not sure if they had any children as I have William's death as in Hanslope 3 years later.
