The Society holds open meetings on the third Thursday of each month (except Easter, Christmas, July and August).

All Meetings are held at Hanslope School and start at 8pm.  Visitors are most welcome.

17 January 2013
 A presentation on the History and Traditions of Mumming by the Stony Stratford Mummers.
Mumming has been recorded for over 300 years.  It is a custom, a social activity and street theatre.

21 February 2013
The Rothchilds family and Waddesdon Manor” by Robert Keating

Robert is a tour guide of Waddesdon  manor and explains with illustrations the
history of the Rothchilds and their long standing connection with Waddesdon.

'Spare parts" - a light hearted  look at early medical practice - Dr Tony Maisey

Dr Maisey explains in a light hearted manner how spare limbs and other
replacement body parts came to be formed from other materials.

"Harry and Edna, the Wartime Kitchen" by Amanda Pickard

Harry and Edna have a passion for vintage, especially of civilian life during wartime.
This is one of their most requested talks and to compliment
the display they bring along household artefacts.

"Hanslope in the Historic Towns Report" by David Green

David has just completed a survey of the origins and development of all the major settlements
in Buckinghamshire on behalf of Buckinghamshire CC and Milton Keynes Council.
He has some fascinating insights into the origins of Hanslope and why it
failed to develop into a town while many smaller settlements did.

"Buckingham Coaching Inns" by Julian Hunt

Julian , a regular speaker at our meetings is a former curator of the
Aylesbury Museum and the County Archive, and talks on a variety of local interest.

Janine who lives in the Village, has undertaken the study of
various local connections and explains this in her talk.

You do not have to be a member to attend any of the talks. 
Visitors are asked to pay a £1 visitor fee.

Annual membership will be £5 for 2013.
