14. The Red Lion

The Red Lion, on the right going down the High Street from the Watts Arms, is another of Hanslope's former pubs.

One dweller at the Red Lion was at Hanslope Combined School
when its pupils originated this trail "I live in the heart of the village in a house over 300 years old . Over the years it has been a bakery, a pub, a coal merchants and a large home. In the dining room there's a corn chute going back to when it was a bakery."

The photograph below dates from when it was a coal merchant's, with the coal merchant and his family outside.

I like living in my house but I don't really like going up on the 3rd floor when it's dark and the water-tank makes funny noises! As far as I know there's no ghost stories about the house."
