Its not easy to define what heritage is, as it means different things to different people. For some it is historic buildings and places, architectural gems both modern and old, and for others it may be social history, customs, traditions, memories, religion, music or family stories.
Milton Keynes is a unique place where new city combines with old towns and villages, where heritage hides around every corner just waiting to be discovered. Equally important to the heritage of the area, are the people that live and work in Milton Keynes, who bring with them their own diverse histories.
Heritage is about what people value and what is important to them, and the Heritage Open Days events is a great way for people to acknowledge, understand more widely and celebrate all aspects of England's heritage.

Heritage Open Days is co-ordinated nationally in partnership with English Heritage who core funds the event. Between 10 - 13 September 2009 over 2,500 fascinating properties across England will be opening their doors for free.
