8 Reading Old Handwriting

A workshop about reading oldhandwriting, led by Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies archivist Laura Robertson. Learn about reading wills, parish registers etc.

19 Willen Lake Activities

Willen Lake is the terminus for Heritage Cycle Trails A, B & C and offers a range of watersports, land-based activities and High Ropes Adventure Course. Try out Katakanus (holds up to 6 people) and Pedalos (holds up to 5 people) for free.
Also bike hire from £10-£20 if pre-booked. Min child age 8.

21 Cycle Ride on Heritage Trails A & B

Starts at Lakeside, Willen Lake South, MK15 0DS
Thursday 11th 2-6pm Trail A, Friday 12th 2-4pm Trail B
A choice of 2 guided cycle rides incorporating villages and heritage interest sites, on trails devised by MK Council Heritage Dept. Trail A covers Great Linford, Bradwell Abbey & Furton (4-5 hours). Trail B covers Newport Pagnell and North East (2-3) hours).

WWII codebreaking centre now a museum and vibrant tourist attraction. Free admission for these 4 days only, to MK residents (proof of MK postcode needed eg utility bill)

35 Stevington Windmill

Thursday 11th - Sunday 14th 10am-7pm (or dusk if earlier)
The only complete windmill in Beds. Built in 1770 around a central post it can be turned into the wind. Rebuilt 1921 and further restored in 1951.

Hands-on museum of local social history featuring working vintage telephones, schoolroom, parlour activities, war-time garden with sounds of air raid in Anderson shelter, street of vintage shops, brass rubbing, transport & farming through the seasons.

Exhibition of Steven Gregory's famous local paintings. Employed by MK Development Corp. as artist in residence 1977-79, at the time when MK was still under construction. His works celebrate contemporary architecture.

46 Make a Difference Exhibition

Discover MK shop, 672 Silbury Boulevard, MK9 3AE

This exhibition has been created by young "MaD" volunteers. With skills teaching from Phazeone Photography, they identified places they felt displayed heritage in MK - so this is a view of hidden gems through the eyes of young people.

MK Hospital Restaurant, Standing Way, Eaglestone, MK6 5LD
Thursday 11th - Saturday 13th Guided Art Tours at 3pm daily.
Exhibition in Eaglestone Restaurant (follow signs from hospital reception) celebrates the hospital art collection, inc Bob Jardine photos, and the "Out of Clay" exhibition of ceramics. Repeated screenings of short film animation exploring local heritage, made by young people.
