PowerPoint training available for free

MKHA will again be running a PowerPoint workshop in the IT room at Milton Keynes Museum on Saturday 20th October. Tutor Anna McEvoy.

Members of MKHA and MKHA groups are eligible to attend.

Learning Events Co-ordinator at MKCDC

Learning Events Co-ordinator for Educational Charity (full time permanent post)

Salary - £20,500 – 24,500 according to experience

The main objective of MKCDC is:

"To promote a greater appreciation and understanding of the historical, natural and built environments of Milton Keynes."

The Learning Events Co-ordinator will be broadly responsible for:

  • the delivery of a geography and urban/city development educational programme, and impact of these area in the future development of MK;
  • the delivery of history learning programme (broadly Roman, Medieval, Tudor) and promotion of the Bradwell Abbey Scheduled Ancient Monument site;
  • outreach, marketing and promoting the educational services offered by MKCDC;
  • organising public and family events, lectures, workshops, tours covering the main areas of work.

Vacancy - Heritage Consortium Interim Development Director

Closing Date for applications: Wednesday 25th April 2012 – 4pm

There is a potential opportunity for a freelance contractor to work with the Milton Keynes Heritage Consortium on its ongoing structural development. The role will also help identify a way forward for the consortium in relation to the proposed options for museum and archive provision for Milton Keynes, its formal relationship with Milton Keynes Council and its future resourcing and development. It is expected that the contractor will be employed by Milton Keynes Museum, the budget holding organisation for the Heritage Consortium. (The Heritage Consortium consists of 5 partner organisations - MK Museum, City Discovery Centre, Living Archive, Bletchley Park, Cowper & Newton Museum)

Interested applicants should please:

  • Provide a cv (no more than 2 sides) of previous experience in this field - clearly state how they meet each of the essential criteria in the role description
  • Include a covering letter stating their day rate, flexibility of availability for total days up to 50 days (i.e. days per week and length of contract) and that they are insured to take this contract on a freelance basis
  • Be available, if selected, for interview on Mon 30th April

Calling all film makers: commission of short film by Milton Keynes Heritage Partnership

Calling all film makers
Milton Keynes Heritage Partnership is searching for talented film makers to produce a short film that will showcase the work being done by the the Partnership.

Milton Keynes Heritage Partnership comprises Bletchley Park Trust, the Cowper and Newton Museum, the Living Archive, Milton Keynes Museum and Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre, in partnership with MK Council Heritage Service. The Partnership is helping its members all to work in a more joined-up, effective way so that they can serve their visitors and audiences better. The Partnership would like to let more people know about the work being done in this Partnership as it is so positive.
To express an interest in tendering for the opportunity to make this short film, please either:
  • contact Henk van Aswegen, Director of Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre henk@mkcdc.org.uk for the full brief for the project, or

Film makers should have some previous experience of making films of this type and be able to give good professional references.

The deadline for tenders is 5pm on Wednesday. 4th January 2012.

Features which have been added for the first time include:

  • a location map for MKHA members
  • a calendar of meetings and other MKHA member events
  • this blog of MKHA news.

 

In addition the results of a new MKHA project have been published:

  • transcriptions of the 1894 and 1895 Parish Magazine for North Bucks
