Milton Keynes Heritage Association - the history of Milton Keynes

The History of Milton Keynes

As an aid to you and the many other visitors who use this site looking for information on the history of Milton Keynes, here are some shortcuts which may get you to what you are looking for. The Association is looking at developing a major section on the history of Milton Keynes, in conjunction with interested parties.

Incidentally, to get the most-asked question out of the way : the name Milton Keynes has nothing to do with John Milton the poet or Maynard Keynes the economist. The city is named after one of the villages contained within its boundaries. However, when the city was being planned in the late 1960s, a Government minister of the time did comment that the proposed name had the benefit of "combining the poetic with the economic" !

Oh - and if you want the Concrete Cows, they are here.
