Early Site History
from launch in June 2000 to the end of 2003


  • 22.12.2003 - It is with deep sadness and regret that the Association records the death of Ron Spendloff, curator of Newport Pagnell Police Museum. Ron had worked diligently to create worthwhile features on his web site, which gets an average of 1,000 page views a month. The pages will remain available, but visits to the museum will be suspended until a decision is taken on its future.
  • 22.12.2003 - Milton Keynes Family History Library updates its list of the parish data it has available for researchers. New data available, some parishes have got increased coverage over historical periods.
  • 06.11.2003 - Wolverton & District Archaeological & Historical Society update their list of available publications
  • 04.11.2003 - "Tours & Trails" page launched, with shortcuts to the virtual tours the site has to offer.
  • 06.10.2003 - Newport Pagnell Historical Society publish new book on Newport Pagnell Past & Present
  • 23.09.2003 - Cowper & Newton Museum launch a feature on their exhibition "Olney & District at War"
  • 23.09.2003 - Cowper & Newton Museum publish a recently donated letter written by the Rev John Newton. See the full text of the letter in close-up, alongside a transcription
  • 07.08.2003 - Sherington Historical Society update their site and include a redesign of the tour of St Laud's Church
  • 07.08.2003 - Hanslope & District Historical Society make update their searchable, cross-referenced database of the Census returns for Hanslope for the years 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881 & 1891. Errors have been located and corrected.
  • 24.07.2003 - The Living Archive, Wolverton launch "Days of Pride" - Wolverton & New Bradwell in the First World War, as seen through newspapers, diaries and audio memories.
  • 09.07.2003 - Milton Keynes Family History Library completes its list of the parish data it has available for researchers. Buckinghamshire parishes A - W now covered.

  • 19.06.2003 - This site has been assessed by the International Association of Web Masters & Designers and has been awarded a Golden Award for 2003-4. The award is displayed on the Index page
  • 18.06.2003 - Wolverton & District Archaeological & Historical Society update section on Thornton College, with new aerial views, and details of site features such as the pumphouse and the duckponds
  • 17.06.2003 - Milton Keynes Family History Library starts list of the parish data it has available for researchers
  • 16.06.2003 - Milton Keynes Museum makes available scanned charts and plans from Wolverton Works
  • 12.06.2003 - The Two Villages Archive Trust add extra information on Broughton village, including details on ownership of the manor or Broughton and the incumbents of St Lawrence's Church.
  • 19.05.2003 - New link added at the request of The National Trust - the wonderful Stowe Landscaped Gardens, near Buckingham
  • 13.05.2003 - The Milton Keynes branch of the Western Front Association launches its section on this site.
  • 12.05.2003 - Hanslope & District Historical Society make available on-line a searchable, cross-referenced database of the Census returns for Hanslope for the years 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881 & 1891. This major reference work is the result of intensive activity and should prove an invaluable aid to those researching family history. Of special note is the feature presenting similar names with comparisons of the implied year of birth.

  • 04.12.2002 - Bucks Constabulary History Association adds a feature on the early years of the Police Dog Section of the force.
  • 15.11.2002 - The Two Villages Archive Trust - launch a major feature on the historic survey of the field ownership and usage of Milton Keynes Village, complete with interactive maps.

  • 18.10.2002 - Wolverton & District Archaeological & Historical Society updates their feature on Thornton Parish Church with extra information.
  • 09.10.2002 - Hanslope & District Historical Society's site revised, with clearer navigation to enable easier access to the huge amount of information contained there.
  • 18.09.2002 - Bletchley Archaeological & Historical Society site launch their site and become the 23rd MKHA member online. The site contains details of publications available from the Society.
  • 10.09.2002 - Wolverton & District Archaeological & Historical Society launch a major upgrade to their feature on Thornton Parish Church. Many more photos of the interior and historic details have been added, along with key information on the vault, the brasses, and the other fitments to the church. An 1881 Parish Map has also been included.
  • 03.09.2002 - Bucks Constabulary History Association launches its site, hosted here. Run by a serving policeman, the site is dedicated to the history of Buckinghamshire Costabulary before it was merged into the current Thames Valley Police Force.

  • 09.08.2002 - Newport Pagnell Police Museum launch a page on the impact of the building of the M1 and the opening of the country's first motorway service station at Newport Pagnell
  • 30.07.2002 - Hanslope & District Historical Society launch a major section on the history of education in Hanslope, with details of all the various types of education, schools, etc which have existed in Hanslope. Photos, charts and tables illustrate this fascinating story

  • 05.07.2002 - The Two Villages Archive Trust update their details on Monument Inscriptions in Broughton church and churchyard, complete with maps and diagrams
  • 05.07.2002 - Newport Pagnell Historical Society update their town trail with details on Newport Pagnell's fortifications in the Civil War, complete with a detailed map
  • 12.06.2002 - Bletchley Park Trust add a feature on the telephony for the Park, including details of the Defence Teleprinter Network (DTN), and the Fenny Stratford Repeater Station.
  • 11.06.2002 - The Telephone Museum launches next section on the history of the telephone system
  • 06.06.2002 - Stoke Goldington Association launch their site and become the 22nd MKHA member online. The site contains details of their Archive Holdings, Lacemaking in Buckinghamshire, The Bliss family of innkeepers, and the story of an Evacuee in Stoke Goldington in World War II.
  • 19.05.2002 - Deanshanger Village Heritage Society site now relocated to this server, with major new sections, including the 1881 Census details, video clips of village events, and also a village trail.
  • 17.05.2002 - Milton Keynes Museum launch pages giving full details of their Schools Loan collection and booking system.

  • 19.03.2002 - The Two Villages Archive's Monument Inscriptions for All Saints' Church, Milton Keynes Village now online
  • 08.03.2002 - The Two Villages Archive Trust's tour of All Saints Church launched
  • 27.02.2002 - Hanslope & District Historical Society's site extended further with examples of the work of local artist Jacqueline Barker
  • 15.02.2002 - Hanslope & District Historical Society pages on Monument Inscriptions now updated following a recent new survey of churchyard. The Socety also has posted some extra information about the background to the The Hanslope Park Tragedy.
  • 13.02.2002- Rectory Cottages Trust site launched. 20 MKHA members now on-line
  • 07.01.2002 - MKHA was awarded a major grant from The Heritage Lottery Fund under their "Your Heritage" scheme. This secured funding for another year of training for volunteers from MKHA member groups. A new round of training courses began on 8.01.2002
