Visit to Oxford museum, November 2009

50 members of the Society enjoyed a day in Oxford at the end of November 2009 visiting the Pitt Rivers Museum, with its wide-raging ethnographic and archaeological collections, and the adjacent Natural History Museum.

Both buildings have received recent facelifts and improvements to their displays.

An introductory talk on the collections was provided specially for the Society at each museum and an early preview of new archaeological work at Herculaneum was a particular highlight.







Cambridge visit, December 2011

OAS members and friends making the best of the winter sunshine on a day trip to Cambridge in December 2011 which included private tours of Kings College Chapel and the Fitzwilliam Museum.

A visit to the special exhibition "Vermeer's Women – Secrets and Silence" was an additional highlight of the tour.
