The Old Gaol today is a registered museum, one of the Milton Keynes Heritage Group of museums and stands in the centre of the town of Buckingham. The building looks like a castle and is an early example of 18th century Gothic architecture. The strange appearance and interesting history of the building means that it was chosen as one of the Jewels of Milton Keynes. A tour of the Museum takes the visitor through the story of the old county town from ancient times to today. There is a TIC (Tourist Information Centre) and a shop and we welcome visits by schools. The Old Gaol, which is one of the main tourist attractions in Buckingham, needs volunteers to assist in the Cell Shop or Museum. If you have three hours to spare each week or month, we would like to hear from you. Please contact us on 01280 823020 or call into the Museum between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Saturday. Find us with the Location Map.
