The Rec Looking towards The Village Hall 2000

The Recreation Ground is one of many gifts to the village

(at the end of the eighteenth century)

by the Carlile Family of Gayhurst House

(The Carliles owned the whole of the village at the time)

It is now managed by the Parish Council.

At the top of ‘The Rec’ is the Village Hall, built in 1976

and extended on three occasions.

It is the centre of the village social activities.

The Village Hall Committee organises both the annual two-day Steam Rally

(See Steam Rally page LINK)

and also the annual Pantomime.

Looking down the recreation ground we see the hard court

which has floodlighting

to allow tennis or five a side football when the sun has gone to bed.
