Why is it called Dag Lane ?
It’s not the most attractive word you could think of.
The dictionary suggests ‘Dag’ : A dirt clotted lump of wool or a
16th century pistol. Sheep shearing or shooting - you take your pick.
I promised you that we would come to the Old Rectory,
well there it is just over that wall.
Built on a grass bank to prevent the flooding which had been the fate of
the previous rectory, which had occupied the same site.
The Old Rectory, which I suppose was called the New Rectory at the time
(if you get what I mean), was built in the 1880’s
