7. East Side Farm & Berkeley

This drawing shows Eastside Farm (centre) and the entrance to Berkeley Close. Several old houses which lined the High Street were demolished to create the road entrance when Berkeley Close was built in the 1960s. A further two rows of cottages, to the rear of the High Street houses and parallel to them, had disappeared by the turn of the twentieth century. The three rows of cottages were known locally as Berkeley, hence the name of the new close. The building on the left of the picture is the Old Post Office.
