Jim & René Steddon - Biographical Notes

Born in 1909, René spent the war years working in the Home Office in London. After she married her husband Jim they moved to Harrold in Bedfordshire and from there they moved to Sherington in 1974. Both René and Jim were very active in village life. Jim became a member of the parish council for a number of years, he was also a leading member of the bowls club. René we know embroidered some of the kneelers for the church.

René has always loved her gardens and flowers and they were both very keen dancers.

René was a members of a number of art clubs and societies, including one in Bedford. She loved painting and did so up until her eyesight failed.

Towards the end of her stay in Sherington and even with her failing eyesight she could be seen walking around the village, stopping to chat to people. René is now spending her declining years in sheltered accommodation near her remaining family in South Wales.
