“A little Bird Told Me…..”

Celebrated local raconteur Philip Smith will be signing copies of his long awaited book.

“A little Bird Told Me…..” is a unique look at a way of life which has almost disappeared; covering the years from the 30s to the present day it is illustrated throughout with excellent photographs.

Packed full of fascinating anecdotes, characters and events, Philip’s own voice recalls with humour and affection an era where toffee apples, horses or thatching were the hot topics.

Philip Smith has lived for more than 80 years in Sherington, only leaving for a short time to serve in the Army. Often known locally as the Mayor of Sherington, Philip responded to the challenge of local journalist and editor Gerald Stratton, “Don’t talk about it get on and write it!” Philip did just that.

Come and meet Philip Smith, a very interesting character himself!
