SHS Meeting Minutes 41

Pump

Sherington Historical Soc.

Committee Meeting 2pm Sat. 21st Feb. 2004.

at 33,Crofts End. Sherington.

Present; Norman Arnold, Mark Vale Sheila Quinn and Pearl Teasedale.

1. 2004 AGM: The committee recommends no changes to the constitution.

2. Matters Arising from "003 AGM : The 10year pageant suggested by Jill Burgess and Steve ??? appears not to have materialised. Maybe we should now pursue Enid's suggestion of The Ten Year Book. ( a book logging 10 year steps in Sherington's history, from 1900 to 2000)

3. Afternoon of History. The 'Afternoon of History' held in 2002 was a great success, however, the one held jointly with The New Thursday Group Charity Coffee morning was not. The NTG have decided not to hold another charity event on a Bank Holiday. The SHS Committee had previously discussed holding this year's 'Afternoon of History' on the same Saturday as the Sherington Flower Festival, the 26th June. Members present at the Feb. meeting had been in agreement with this suggestion as it was felt the venture would be beneficial to all concerned. It is possible that in the event of a rainy afternoon the Rectory will require the use of the Village Hall for afternoon teas, but this would not inconvenience either group. SAQ has booked the hall, 10am - 5pm.

4. 2003 Fete: This event, blessed with good weather was a great success and should be repeated whenever it was available to us. The SHS share in this project was £270.

5.AGM Agenda: Chairman's Report, Secretary's Report and Treasurer's Report.

Followed by the Election of Committee Members.

The only change being that Pearl has agreed to become Treasurer. (Mark expressed his wish to stand down from this position at the last AGM) Mark wishes to remain a Committee Member.

6. Visit to Stacey Bushes Museum: The July meeting will be a visit to The Museum of Rural Life in Stacey Bushes. 7-30pm - 9-30 pm. The cost will be £2-00 per head and SHS will subsidise the cost of refreshments, tea/coffee and biscuits/cakes. A snack/meal from the menu is not required.

6. Peter Gardner's Film Project: The committee think it correct that a simple copyright form be produced and signed by Peter permitting us to copy, use and supply of his films. Pearl suggested that we ask Derek Ferris to look at the draft copy of an agreement form produced by Norman. Peter is in agreement to this.

7. Ian Collinge: Norman will visit Ian, 6,Gun Lane, to sort out the errors that have arisen in the "Newport Pagnell Phone Box", following their article on Sherington in the January issue.

Namely:- 'Planting of the Tree by Mrs Clutton in 1937.

'The location of the village school shop'

Ian is also to be asked if he would consider taking control of the SHS website, as Mark is finding that he has now, a lot more personal commitments.

Meeting closed at 4pm approx. and thanks to Pearl for her hospitality.
