Annual Parish Meeting 2007

Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on Tuesday 8th May 2007 in Sherington School commencing at 7.00pm

PRESENT: Cllr Bill Lewis (Chairman of Parish Council).

ATTENDING: Wendy Austyn (Clerk) and 7 public.

  1. APOLOGIES: None.

  2. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: The minutes of the Annual Parish meeting held on 2nd May 2006 were agreed as a true record and signed by the Chairman.

PC Makeup. Cllr. Peter Herbert resigned in June 2006, David Wright was co-opted in January 2007. Cllr Finn has not re-stood, Ian Thompson has filled the final seat.
Lara Bruce was Clerk during Wendy Austyn`s maternity leave, Wendy re-joined us January 2007, thanks to both.
Street Lighting & Electrical Under grounding. Cllr David Hyde has liaised with the sub-contractors. Proposals showing many more street lights were not well received and MKC agreed to maintain replacement of existing lamps. A deal for rural style lamps but with modern optics has been secured.
Cycle Path. The original concept is now being constrained by budgets. To date we see no satisfactory solution on the Alban Hill section and on recent plans, see that the promised upgrading of footpaths is now showing instead just white lanes on the highway.
Village Appraisal. Future interest in modest expansion on housing has been registered with MKC; we also met with the Village Hall Trustees to hear of any future plans ( no response yet ) and are watching developments on Rural Post Offices.
Water Lane / Anglian Water. Flooding and sewage on the highway continued, another tree root blockage was cleared. AW attended the February meeting when we agreed some actions and reports from AW but to date not much positive movement.
Village Repairs - Pilot Scheme. Sherington is part of a pilot scheme. The Clerk is using a control sheet and feeding back items to be included.
Village Hall Footpath(s). The decision by the VH trustees to have the footpath adjacent to the Hall has been withdrawn. We are planning to rebuild the footpath across the play area.
Football Club. After some problems the club paid up in full and in advance and things are now much better.
New goal posts have been installed, the pavilion and the pitch have been maintained and there are now plans to upgrade the electrical supply and showers.
Youth Club. After meetings and more helpers coming forward, the club is now back on an even keel. The Mound. The Mound has been smartened up with steps and an improved car park. A waste bin is planned.
Perry Lane Sports Ground We have appointed Shane as caretaker.
Stonepits Close We are considering changing Stonepits into a woodland feature for the village use.
Finally, I would like to thank all fellow councillors for their hard work and team work during the year.

  4. FINANCIAL REPORT The clerk reported the following figures:
