Grade 2 Listed Building

On 27 February 1984, Sherington Place was included in the Department of the Environment's List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest for the District of Milton Keynes under Section 54 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1971. The description is as follows:

SP 89 46 SHERINGTON CHURCH END, 11/147
Sherington Place - II C18. Listed: 17.11.66
Sherington Place (formerly listed as House on the corner of Gun Lane) GV II House. C18 Dressed limestone facade, coursed rubble flanks. and rear elevation. 2 storeys plus cellars and attic. Old tile roof, 3 bays. 6 panel central door with lozenge pattern glazing to fanlight over in doorcase of cross-reeded pilasters with capitals and similar brackets supporting cornice hood. Approached by flight of 7 moulded stone steps with C19 cast-iron railing. 4 pane sashes with keystones, 3 pane over door. Keyed heads. Band, course moulded eaves. Brick flanking chimneys. Interior has good C18 staircase.


Sherington Place Fire - Boxing Day 1984

On Boxing Day 1984, there was a fire at Sherington Place.
Sadly, Alexander and James Gadsby (sons of Jackie and David Gadsby) lost their lives.
