Towcester in the 10th Century

917In 917 A.D. the Danish Viking armies from Northampton and Leicester attacked the "burh of Towcester" which was thought to have been previously fortified by King Alfred of Wessex's son, King Edward the Elder of Wessex. [Ref. 1]
