The second bedroom has been the second bedroom for many years until it became the spare room. It was during those years as the spare room that the new loft access was built by Geoff Ilett with help from Denise Ilett and son Philip Ilett. It comprises of a permanent wooden ladder attached to the wall and a trapdoor in the ceiling.
In December 2003 it went back to being the second bedroom.
