Henry was one of twins, (the other James Burt) who both lost their lives in the War. The 4th Bedfordshire Regiment was an Extra Reserve Battalion which stayed in the Felixstow area until going to France in July 1916, after the disaster on the Somme in July, 1916. They served as part of the 190th Brigade, 63rd (Royal Naval) Division.
Henry went overseas with them, as did Harrold Page. He was wounded during the assault near Miramount,
Henry died of the wounds he received, aged 20, and was buried at Varennes Military Cemetery, Somme, France. He is listed on the Woburn Sands Memorial. His army service papers have not survived.
