The Cowper and Newton Museum
Burns Night Supper, 2002

The Museum's 'Burns Night Supper' was held on January 25th in the Olney Town Rugby Club.

It was a great success with the piper greeting all guests at the door. Ladies were presented with sprigs of heather to wear and then guests made their way to their tables.

There followed the Selkirk Grace, the toast to the Haggis, the food itself - everyone seemed to enjoy it - more toasts, the Scottish marching and finally the Scottish dancing, with most people on their feet, sorting out their left from their right and counting hard!. Those who didn't dance had a comedy show of a lifetime.

11.45 came around so quickly with the singing of Auld Lang Syne and with a general consensus to repeat the evening in 2003. With the number of guests restricted to 106, we will have to find a larger venue to allow more to join in the dancing at any one time.
